Part of the way we promote opportunity for all Iowans is by influencing state policies enacted by the Iowa Legislature. It can be intimidating to show up at the state Capitol and speak up on the issues you care about, but it is critical to policy change. Here are some resources to help unpack the mysterious ways of the Legislature.
Our Advocate's Guide to Visiting the Capitol outlines the process of meeting with lawmakers during session and strategies for maximizing your effectiveness while you are there.
The Legislature's website include maps of the Capitol grounds and meeting rooms and information on tours, parking and driving instructions. You can also search for a lawmaker by address, city, zip code, county or school district.
